Prithibi, a rock band from Kolkata had achieved success with its second album release on Monday. Prithibi, which started in August 2001, released its first album, named after the band, in 2007, which was soon followed by its second, launched at a venue on Park Street.
This event witnessed the presence of Debajyoti Mishra, Neel Dutt apart from members of Cactus and Insomnia.
The unveiling of the album cover was greeted with a loud round of applause from the audience. Debajyoti shared interesting anecdotes about his acquaintance with the band.
Talking about the album, Prithibi’s vocalist, Kausiq, said, “This album deals with certain social issues that the common man faces on a daily basis. The songs deal with interpersonal relationships, gender differentiation, and a lot more.” The band claimed that its music is ‘soulful and honest’.
The members further claimed that this album is an expression of unachieved dreams, moments of fragile happiness and extreme emotions of the common man. The programme came to a close with a much applauded acoustic session of songs from its new album.
